When I first started producing our Ndeipi magazine about “What’s Happening in Harare” I make a conscious decision to stay away from doing the Dusty Miller style write ups about restaurants. The reason being that I wanted to send out positive vibes. If you are invited for a free meal, and are presented something that you are very unimpressed with, it is not fair to then give a good write up about the dinner. I feel that is far better to pay for the evening and then, if suitably impressed, to let others know about it. Over the past month we have had 2 such occasions: Dinner at The Bistro and at The Village Greek in Sam Levy’s Village
The Bistro Gazebos
The Bistro has just been taken over by young Rory Levey (no relation to Sam Levy). He has an excellent chef, Ryan Wood, who has been trained overseas and presented us with some special cuisine on both evenings. They are now open every day except Monday and have set up a few Gazebos in the well maintained garden alongside the pool. The waiters are all turned out immaculately and speak knowledgably about their offerings. Rory has stuck to the simple menu with 3 different choices for up to a 3 course meal. Booking recommended. 0779-878-548 firstname.lastname@example.org . The Lamb liver with mash, onions and vegies was my favourite – so tender and mouth-watering.
