A mile in my shoes and Mana elephant appeal

Once again I am writing to ask for your support.  This is a twofold request for support.  Firstly I wanted to remind people about the event on this Saturday night at The Mill Bar and grill (flyer attached).  This is in aid of Kathy Trevenen O’Hara’s epic 1000 klm walk from Harare to Gonerazhou.  The beneficiaries of the funds raised are AWARE Trust Zimbabwe, Kariba Animal Welfare Trust and MAPP.  We will be auctioning off a host of prizes including the artwork I have attached which has kindly been donated by Ron.J.Fourie. The theme is “Out of “Africa” and we are hoping for a strong turn out as everybody knows the integrity of the 3 organizations.

I have also posted Kathy’s story on the FB page dedicated to this walk.  https://www.facebook.com/sponsor1000km/ if anyone wants to know the inspiring story behind Kathy.  We are still looking for sponsors for her journey in the form of food, water, tobacco (Yes I said tobacco) and shoes just to name a few. If anyone is keen to get behind Kathy on this, please email me on the details below.  Alternatively just give me a call and I will work with you to see what exposure we can offer.

Secondly I am appealing to recover the costs on an operation AWARE completed Friday 17th March in Mana Pools.  www.facebook.com/AWARETrustZimbabwe/posts/1220659324654122

I am still editing the footage but this link has some photos and some basic story behind the Op.  We had to boat in from Chirundu so the costs are higher than we previously would of incurred.  I would like to try and recuperate at least $1000 if it all possible.  Again I am loathe to ask locals to prop us up at every Op, but the international community isn’t that keen to support anything in Zim.  The pariah mentality still persists, especially when it involves elephants sadly.

As usual if there are any businesses out there who want to chat about the possibility of a strategic partnership with AWARE for equipment or support I am will meet and chat with anyone, at any time. We are keen to try and get even something small on the monthly side for the following:

Staple food packs (Mealie meal, Sugar beans and sugar) for rhino rangers.

Monthly financial support.

Remember if we can get 20 or 30 businesses to donate even $25 per month it goes a long way to reducing the financial burden the team wears when responding in an emergency.  Recovering funds AFTER an Op is never easy so that little bit counts in a huge way.
