This one is for the history books : Cook Off becomes the first Zimbabwean film on Netflix!

You’ve been living under a rock if you have not heard about the romantic comedy, Cook-Off The Movie, by Joe Njagu and Tomas Brickhill, that has made history by becoming the first-ever Zimbabwean movie to premiere on Netflix.

The news was met with jubilation by Zimbabweans from all over the globe and over the last couple of weeks, the movie has been the buzzword on social media and received a lot of praise when it premiered on Netflix yesterday.

Shot on a tight budget the movie has surpassed viewer expectations with its authentic feel and down to earth characters that anyone can relate to. Cook Off tells the story of a single mother with a passion for cooking who gets a shot at greatness when her son enters her into a top reality cooking show. The film has the best attributes of a romantic comedy mixed with some Zimbabwean flavour πŸ˜‰

The movie has an all-star Zimbabwean cast, consisting of some well known names such as Tendaiishe Chitima, Tendai Nguni and the legendary Jesesi Mungoshi. The film producer Joe Njagu says the film is an opportunity to bring Zimbabwean content to the world and show that we have so much more to offer.
