This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of attending the high tea event at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, and it was nothing short of exquisite. I arrived a bit early, just to soak in the atmosphere and admire the recent renovations. The hotel’s interior was striking, and bright, expressive paintings by gifted local artists adorned the walls, infusing the space with energy and sophistication. The space felt fresh, vibrant, and welcoming.

As guests began to gather, the mood remained pleasant and casual, perfect for mingling and relaxed socialising. We exchanged thoughts on everything from the shifting weather to our preferred teas, and even shared stories from previous high tea experiences. One particularly captivating story came from a guest who had lived at Meikles Hotel for 20 years when her father was the manager! I can only imagine an upbringing steeped in hospitality!

Of course, the pastries were a highlight. From delicate tarts to buttery scones, everything was delicious, but the carrot cake? Unforgettable. I can still taste that moist, spiced slice; it was hands down my favourite. We were also treated to an insightful presentation by the hotel’s Food and Beverages Director and their spokesperson, who shared the rich history of the Hyatt Regency. We learned about the hotel’s brand portfolio, manifesto, personality, and their warm motto: “An open invitation.”

Following the presentation, we embarked on a guided tour of the property. The design throughout was refined and thoughtfully curated, but the pool area truly stole the spotlight. I’m almost certain it was everyone’s favourite spot, and for good reason. It’s serene, stylish, and perfect for unwinding.

A lovely surprise? The hotel now offers a Sunday Lazy Breakfast from 6:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Guests can enjoy a cosy seating area and a generous buffet spread, ideal for slow, indulgent mornings. And here’s something special, the Hyatt Regency will be celebrating its 110th Anniversary soon! What a milestone. I absolutely loved the experience and will definitely be attending the next high tea. If you’re looking for a relaxing, elegant afternoon of culinary delight and engaging company, you should too.
