The 4×4 Jamboree returns to Nyanga Brondesubury Hotel Nyanga after 30 years
ATTENTION ALL OFF-ROAD AND ALLTERRAIN ENTHUSIASTS.
After 30 years Brondesbury Park Hotel welcomes back its off-road and all-terrain enthusiasts, the 4×4 Club Zimbabwe. The 4×4 Club’s Jamboree began in 1994 and is celebrating 30 years of all-terrain adventure.
The club was formerly the Landrover and Off-Road Enthusiasts Club of Zimbabwe and later rebranded to the 4×4 Club Zimbabwe. Some present members of the 4X4 Club attended the first and second Jamborees held at Brondesbury Park Hotel, Nyanga in 1994 and 1995 and have been attending ever since.
This year’s event is for all who want to participate and spectate. Join the 4×4 Club at Brondesbury Park Hotel Nyanga for some motor fun from May 11th to 12th. There will be courses set for all classes of vehicle from long wheel base SUV vehicles to specially modified competition vehicles. If you wish to enter your 4×4 vehicle on the course please contact the club at the4x4clubzim@gmail.com, for more information, we can advise if you would be eligible to enter . There will be a ladies and Novice course set for Sunday open to members of the public, with a prize to be won. Accommodation can be booked from the Brondesbury Park Hotel Nyanga. The day Entrance fee is $5 for adults and 2$ for children under 12 years old. Camping on sight (per own tent) is $10. Free entrance to children in school uniform.
Mr George Chitepo a legend in the 4X4 community has confirmed that he will take part. He is also glad that the local young community in Nyanga will get a chance to experience this motor sport event.
What’s the Competition you ask?
The club will drive up from Harare via the 4×4 off-track Pink Elephant Route, to Brondesbury Park on Friday the 10th. On Saturday and Sunday there will be courses set around the dam at the Hotel, utilising the off-road terrain with obstacles of side slopes and inclines, water, mud and rocks. The object is to navigate the vehicle through sets of canes without touching or knocking over the marker, rolling the vehicle or becoming stuck in the course. The team with the most clear rounds will win their class. We will be running the Mud Run with the winner being the fastest time through the mud without getting stuck or touching canes or markers. The idea is to push your 4×4 beast through water and mud in a controlled environment. Another challenge is the Rock challenge. A steep incline where you push your 4×4 against gravity, and complete the obstacle.
