The January Sky

If you put a pair of binoculars on Jupiter, you will see some of its four brightest moons, appearing as little specks of light on either side of the giant planet. Galileo was the first to see these moons. That they orbit another planet destroyed the belief that everything in the universe revolves around Earth. And this knowledge nearly destroyed Galileo when the Inquisition heard about what they considered to be heresy.
