I recently attended a lively and heartwarming fundraiser quiz hosted by the National Association of Garden Clubs of Zimbabwe (NAGC). The room buzzed with energy as teams with catchy names like Northern Lights, Smarty Pants, and the crowd-favourite White Hair Wisdom tackled questions, shared laughs, and embraced a spirit of friendly competition.
One of the highlights of the afternoon was an unexpected and delightful conversation with one of the gentlemen in attendance, who shared that he is a regular follower of the Ndeipi Weekender. He spoke appreciatively about how it helps him and his wife stay informed about what’s happening around them and gives them ideas and options for how to spend their weekends. It was a lovely reminder of the real connections our platform creates.
According to Debra Wolbert, Secretary of the National Association of Garden Clubs of Zimbabwe, NAGC is the national umbrella body representing garden clubs, floral art groups, and horticultural interests across Zimbabwe. The association is an active member of the World Association of Floral Artists (WAFA), which unites floral artists, judges, and educators from around the world through prestigious international shows, competitions, and demonstrations. Zimbabwe has a proud history of participation at WAFA World Shows, and for the WAFA World Show 2027 in Sydney, Zimbabwe has been invited to nominate both a judge and a demonstrator. NAGC has proudly nominated Felicity Ambrose as judge and Neels Scott as demonstrator, both highly respected floral artists with extensive international experience and a long-standing contribution to floral art in Zimbabwe and beyond.
NAGC’s next major fundraiser is a public Art and Floral Art Exhibition at Zimoco Showroom, Borrowdale, on 14 February 2026, showcasing visual and floral art, with a percentage of the proceeds going to support Zimbabwe’s participation in WAFA 2027.
