As you know, each week we share the Ndeipi Weekender across our social media platforms, highlighting different events and experiences happening around town. We also make it a point to attend some of these ourselves, giving you a first-hand look at what’s worth trying.
So, it was a pleasure meeting up with Chengeto and Zanele Mawire over coffee, where I had the chance to learn more about their concept, “To Do List.”
True to its name, the idea speaks for itself, born from the understanding that people are constantly busy and on the go, they’ve created a space where individuals can “check off” self-care in a way that still feels intentional and productive.
The duo is behind a growing range of creative, hands-on experiences designed to give people fun and affordable things to do. From candle making and cake decorating to relaxed painting sessions, their focus is on offering variety and allowing people to choose experiences that suit their mood, whether social, creative, or simply a chance to unwind.
In conversation, they shared how their workshops are thoughtfully structured to make the experience as seamless as possible. Activities like cake decorating are prepared in advance, with materials provided so participants can focus on the creative process itself. Sessions typically run for about two hours, creating a balance between engagement and relaxation.
What began in October 2025 as a simple idea to make and sell candles quickly evolved into something more interactive. Instead of just selling products, they began inviting people to create their own, and from there, the concept expanded into multiple experiences.
Despite balancing full-time jobs, they’ve continued to grow the initiative, driven by passion and a clear vision to build a community around shared experiences.
At a time when many are looking for new and meaningful ways to spend their weekends, “To Do List” offers something refreshingly different, accessible and creative activities that bring people together while encouraging them to slow down and enjoy the moment.
With plans to expand into private events, corporate team-building sessions, and eventually a dedicated studio space, it’s clear that this is only the beginning.
And for me, I know the next Frost & Sip is definitely one to try, as someone who has completely given up on baking, it might just be the perfect way to spark my interest, starting with the fun part: the frosting.
