It was one of those rare days when I had a serious sweet tooth craving, which I will tell you doesn't happen often, despite how many times you have read pieces I have written about cakes. This meant I needed somewhere that would satisfy the craving properly. The destination became Café Pistachio, tucked away in the heart of Sam Levy's Village.
From the moment we walked in, the experience was off to a great start. Our waiter, Para, if I caught his name correctly, was incredibly cheerful and welcoming. Even better, it didn't take him long at all to serve us. Lately, after visiting quite a few cafés and restaurants, quick service has
become something I appreciate more and more. Waiting isn't exactly my strongest point… although I wouldn't go as far as calling myself impatient.
The lattes arrived promptly, warm enough for a chilly day. Then came the cakes. The slices were so generously sized that they had me thinking we probably should have ordered one to share.
The only problem with that idea? Deciding whose favourite flavour would have to be sacrificed for the other's benefit. Some dilemmas are simply too difficult.
Café Pistachio has a setting that makes you want to linger a little longer. The space is aesthetically pleasing, with cosy corners and seating spots that allow you to catch just the right amount of sunshine streaming in from outside. In these colder temperatures, finding a little patch of warmth while sipping on a latte feels like a luxury in itself.
Sometimes all you need is good coffee, an oversized slice of cake, and a sunny spot to sit for a while. Café Pistachio offers exactly that, and on this particular day, it did the job perfectly, answering my rather unexpected sweet tooth craving.
Coffee Fact: One of the world's most expensive coffees, known as Kopi Luwak, is made from coffee beans that have passed through the digestive system of a civet.
