Hi All
There’s something special about attending a well-organized, company cocktail party. It’s a chance to relax over a couple of drinks after work and meet interesting new people that you would not normally bump into in your busy life.
First Capital Bank (Formerly Barclays) invited me, last week, to such an occasion being held at The Venue (old George Hotel) – Opposite the shopping centre in Avondale. This superb locale was designed, and subsequently created, specifically for small to medium-sized functions. The General Manager, HD Fraser, is the Head Chef whilst his wife, Karley, is the Pastry Chef
The event was organized to mark “The changing of the guard” for First Capital Bank with Tapera Mushoriwa taking over as Managing Director from my good friend, Ciarran McSharry, who has just completed a very productive, yet rewarding, five-year contract in Zimbabwe.
As expected The Venue was perfect for the evening with some of the best snacks being served timeously to guests as they conversed with fellow invitees. There were vegetarian wraps; squares of bream in tiny bowls full of chips; chicken wings; and much more – all very tastily presented in delicately sized portions.
I did, as usual, go out of my way to introduce myself to many of those there exchanging business cards as per the norm. Interesting to note how many golfers there were amongst the bankers in the audience. A major surprise to me was to receive a personal email of thanks directly from the new MD well before 8 the next morning.
Very impressive evening all round. Thanks very much to First Capital Bank for the nod.
Ciao Mike G.
