Every last week of December, I make it a tradition to visit my mother in a different town. What once felt like frustrating network challenges during these visits has revealed itself to be something far more valuable; it has become a deliberate social media detox. In that quiet space, I recoup, align my thoughts, plan the year ahead, and finish my final book of the year.
To some, the idea of New Year resolutions may sound cliché, but here’s the truth: it’s hard to tick off a list when you don’t even have one to begin with. Resolutions aren’t just about what you want to achieve; they’re about when you want to achieve it. Will it be within the first quarter of the year? Or stretched across the months? Equally important is how you plan to execute the steps that will carry you toward those goals.
If your resolutions involve changing certain habits, the best time to start isn’t January, it’s now. Beginning in the last week of December ensures that by the time the new year arrives, the transition feels natural rather than overwhelming.
James Clear’s Atomic Habits reminds us that meaningful change is gradual, built on small, consistent actions. The real goal isn’t to sprint toward a finish line but to create a lifestyle that sustains you. It won’t always be easy, but showing up every day matters more than perfection. Consistency is the true engine of transformation.
As we close out this year, I hope you are enjoying your holidays and preparing to be phenomenal in everything you do in 2026. Let this season of reflection be the spark that lights your path forward.
We at bambazonke would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous new year – in however way you want prosperous to be.
