The Friend Animal Foundation is the biggest and only no kill shelter in Zimbabwe. We are home to some 400 odd dogs and it is our main purpose to provide a healthy and caring home environment for our dogs. We have more than 200 dogs in our Tribe which is a group of dogs who live communally. They are very happy as you can imagine.
Our special projects include our Farm Patrol dogs who spend their days patrolling the farms protecting livestock, wild animals and crops. They develop great relationships with their Handlers and enjoy their work.
Our most important Project is of course our Working Conservation Rescue Dogs, also known as WORDs who are busy being trained to become part of a K9 unit up in one of our big National Parks which is being run by a large International Charity. Our last and not least most important Project is the moving of our kennels from Tynwald to Goromonzi. This has involved a huge amount of work and money as I am sure you can imagine.
