Coffee fact: The cappuccino is named after the Order of Friars Minor Capuchin; its colour mirrors their iconic brown robes.

There’s a spot along Enterprise that I pass every single weekday, on my way to work and again on my way home. Lately, it’s been impossible to miss the steady stream of people coming in and out of Plato. As expected, my curiosity prevailed. So this past Saturday morning, I finally decided to stop in, bringing a colleague along for what turned into a much-needed coffee catch-up.

I’ll admit, I’m usually a latte kind of girl. It’s familiar and reliable. But what’s the point of trying a new place if you’re not willing to step a little outside your comfort zone? I figured if I ordered my usual, I’d probably just nod and say, “Yes, that was great,” without really experiencing what makes the place different. So, I switched things up and went for a cappuccino, while my colleague chose the Signature Plato.

And the cappuccino? Worth the wait. It had a beautifully balanced layer of crema, smooth, velvety, and just thick enough to hold its structure without overpowering the drink. The first sip was rich but not heavy, with a gentle foam that complemented the espresso rather than masking it.

Even before the first taste, you could tell you were in for something worth savouring. Any place with that kind of foot traffic sets expectations high, and thankfully, this one delivered.

Between bites, sips, and a much-needed recap of the week, the experience unfolded effortlessly. And then there’s the aesthetic. It gives what I can only describe as a sense of positive affect induction. You walk in, and somehow, things just feel a little lighter.
