From the moment I stepped into Borrowdale Country Club last Friday evening, the air was alive with festive cheer, twinkling fairy lights draped across the stalls, the sound of carols floating through the night, and the irresistible aroma of indulgent bites and cheerful sips that set the festive mood. The buzz of families and friends browsing over sixty beautifully curated gift stalls made it clear: Christmas had truly arrived.

Each stall was a treasure trove of creativity, from handmade jewellery that sparkled under the lights, intricately woven home décor, natural skincare products, to vibrant art pieces. What stood out was the sheer attention to detail as every item carried the unmistakable mark of local talent. Behind the stalls were passionate artisans and businesses, each with a story to tell. From crafters inspired by Zimbabwe’s landscapes to bakers sharing family recipes.

For many, it was the perfect one-stop Christmas shopping experience. Unique, personalised gifts, often custom-made, meant ticking off the holiday list without the stress of crowded malls. Beyond the gifts, festive food stalls kept the crowd energised with warm treats and cool drinks, while children laughed their way through the fun fair and activity zone. As dusk fell, the turning on of the Christmas lights transformed the venue into a glowing wonderland, adding magic to the evening.

Families, couples, and groups of friends mingled in a warm, community-focused atmosphere. Smiles, laughter, and friendly exchanges made the evening feel like a gathering of neighbours rather than strangers. If you missed it this year, make sure to mark your calendar for next December.

It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
