Hi All
One of the things you must do when visiting London in the Summertime is to visit the centrally placed Hyde Park. I took a leisurely walk there one Saturday morning when I was over in the UK recently.
It turns out that a sizeable group of fun-loving adults meet at Hyde Park every Saturday morning at 11 complete with their latest skipping rope. Newbies are taught the basic skills whilst seasoned skippers show off all the different tricks they have worked out how to include in their workouts.
Lauren “Jumps” has created a very active following, uploading almost daily videos on Instagram of herself skipping fancy steps to music.
Back in our school days we used to have skipping races during our annual Sports Day – often racing against the parents.
So, this Friday we at Bambazonke will be hosting a fun skipping session at the Highlander at 3pm. We will have competitions to see who can skip the most in 10 minutes plus a couple of short skipping races. We would love to see if anyone here has yet mastered advanced footwork techniques like the crossarm or boxer skip. Friday will be your chance to show them off. We have posted a few short clips of what some of the Londoners were doing
We will give a free drinks ticket to the first 20 participants – we do have a few spare skipping ropes which we can share.
We look forward to seeing you at the Highlander this Friday 9th at 3pm. Ciao Mike G
